Children’s author Mike Revell opens local school library

On Friday 3rd March – to mark the end of the week of World Book Day – Malvern Primary School opened its new library.

The informal opening ceremony was performed by Mike Revell – the author of ‘Stonebird’ and ‘Stormwalker’.  Each class sent two representatives and the team of Y5 and Y6 librarians were also present. During the ceremony, Mike talked about being a rather reluctant reader when he was at primary school – and how a certain boy wizard by the name of Harry Potter got him hooked on reading. Malvern’s library is now in daily use, with each class having a weekly timetabled slot.

The school has just completed a sponsored reading event.  Last year, almost £2500 was raised – and it’s hoped that this total can be bettered this year.  All proceeds go to the further development of the library.

Assistant Headteacher, Paul Kynaston, was responsible for the development of the school library, in partnership with the School Library Service.
