February Book of the Month

It sounded like a respectable and worthy enough death for an explorer – tumbling from an ice bridge to be impaled upon a mammoth tusk – but Stella really, really didn’t want that to happen, just the same.

Join Stella Starflake Pearl and her three fellow explorers as they trek across the snowy Icelands and come face-to-face with frost fairies, snow queens, outlaw hideouts, unicorns, pygmy dinosaurs and carnivorous cabbages . . .

Stella longs to be an explorer and against the strict rules of the Explorers Club, Felix takes her on a trip to the Icelands. But it’s when Stella and three other children are separated from the grown-ups that the adventure really begins. Can Stella, Shay, Beanie and awful Ethan make discoveries, and make it home? Set in a magical frozen landscape, with hugely appealing characters and a non-stop chain of thrilling events.  This is a well-written, fast paced, and imaginative adventure story for 9-12 year olds. I loved it!
