Summer Reading Challenge

Encourage children to read over the summer holidays with this year’s Summer Reading Challenge (SRC)

The theme for 2022 is ‘Gadgeteers’  and has a focus on inspiring children to feed their imagination and creativity with a reading challenge focused on science and innovation.

The SRC will launch in Knowsley Libraries on Saturday 9th July 2022 and will run until Saturday 10th September 2022. To take part just drop into your local library and let them know that you would like to take part in the Summer Reading Challenge. They will get you signed up, help you find books to borrow, and provide you with fun reading activities to get you started. Once you have registered you will receive a Gadgeteers collector poster and stickers, plus other incentives along the way. You can also join in the fun online on the Summer Reading Challenge website

Schools can download a 2022 Schools Pack which includes colouring sheets and posters, plus an assembly presentation and newsletter template. Plus there’s a Home Zone full of useful information for parents, grandparents and carers.

Each year the SRC motivates over 700,000 children to keep reading through the summer. By encouraging children to take part in this year’s SRC you will help build their skills and confidence and spark their curiosity about the world around them.
